"Fuel to Build a Fire" Still Burning Bright

Myrtle Beach, SC : Recently spotted at the KISS Coffeehouse 5th anniversary celebrations: Jeffrey Scott Holland's acrylic painting "Fuel to Build a Fire".

It's from his 2007 solo exhibition of the same name at the KISS Coffeehouse. This photo was taken and posted to the web by guitar technician Eric McKenna, who attended the anniversary event along with KISS members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

Says JSH: "I'm thrilled that Gene Simmons, one of my idols since childhood, would have my primitive neo-expressionist folk art on the walls of one of his business ventures." The franchise for the Myrtle Beach coffeehouse, owned by entrepreneur Johnny Rock, is only the first of many - the next one is scheduled to open soon in Las Vegas.

JSH Joins KyForward Team!

Lexington, KY: Today on his Unusual Kentucky blog, JSH announced his new affiliation with KyForward.com, a Lexington-based website co-founded by former Scripps-Howard Foundation CEO Judith G. Clabes and former Lexington mayor Jim Newberry.

Says JSH:

"I'm excited to be on board as a part of the KyForward team, because their positive, constructive outlook meshes well with my own stubborn views on newsmedia sensationalism and real winning (as opposed to Charlie Sheen's hijacking of the word.)

"When Happy Met Froggie" DVD Released!

The documentary, which recently had its world premiere in Lexington, includes footage from an interview with Jeffrey Scott Holland discussing his painting of the beloved clown-and-puppet pair whose children's show aired on local TV in the 1970s.

"When Happy Met Froggie" Film Premiere!

Lexington, KY: Jeffrey Scott Holland makes an appearance in Scott Hall and Michael Crisp's documentary When Happy Met Froggie, which makes its long-awaited world premiere at the Kentucky Theatre in downtown Lexington on April 6, 7:30pm!

JSH, who will be attending the premiere, will also be on hand before and after for Q&A and meet-and-greet along with everyone else who appears in the film.

For many Lexingtonians of a certain age group, the documentary restimulates childhood memories of local TV clown-and-puppet show Happy's Hour, which aired for a few years on WTVQ-62 in the 1970s. JSH got involved with the project when the producers got wind that he'd done a portrait of Happy the Clown and his puppet pal Froggie, years ago.

Grayson Johnson, writing in North of Center, says:

If audiences are unfamiliar with “Happy’s Hour”, Crisp stresses that it will not affect their enjoyment of the film. “It is really about reconnecting with your childhood. To some degree, everyone has special moments or feelings from when they were a child, and this film will strike a chord with everyone who remembers their own special childhood moments.”

"Le Espionner" Unveiled

Anchorage, Kentucky: Images of Le Espionner, one of a new series of paintings by Jeffrey Scott Holland, have been officially released.

The new painting's measurements are indeterminate at this time but we can see from this photo of it - ensconced in the backyard shrubbery of JSH's Anchorage, KY studio - that it is probably just 16x20 inches. It was first announced on our Telecrylic International website some days ago.
